Emiliano Zárate Ulloa

"I've always been a kid with a computer."

I was 5 when I discovered that Saturdays didn't start with cartoons — they started when I powered on the computer. One of those that sounded like a Windows 98 airplane, took 3 minutes to boot, and I was already sitting there waiting. My first window into the world was a computer, and that changed everything.

This isn't a style I picked from a moodboard.

By 2005 I was the geekiest kid on my block. Habbo Hotel, Neopets, HTML forums I built for my UnionPet group. I used Adobe Fireworks — the first UX software that ever existed, though I didn't know it was called that. I made buttons, interfaces, pixel art. I was designing without knowing I was designing.

This portfolio is my autobiography. The pixels are from the Windows 98 era I grew up in. The RPG aesthetic comes from the games that shaped me. The HTML code that builds each page is the same language I learned at 11 making Neopets pages. I chose this branding because when I saw it, for the first time I said: this is me.

Before landing here I threw 4 portfolios in the trash. I tried minimalist, clinical, modern. None felt mine. Until I reconnected with my inner kid — the one who woke up Saturdays to turn on the computer — and understood that I've always been a designer. I just didn't know it had a name.

    Clinical & Sports Nutritionist
1,800+ consultations. NABBA certification. I learned that the best intervention starts with listening — and that researching before proposing is not optional.

    TripleTen UX/UI Bootcamp
Reading Don Norman's "The Design of Everyday Things" connected me with a way of thinking I already had but couldn't name. UX research and clinical evaluation are the same muscle.

Building this site was a reunion with my inner kid. The one who couldn't make a proper website as a child, now builds it with the same tools he learned playing — and lives from it.
MELOMANIAC
UK Bassline & Drum and Bass
Two subgenres most people haven't scratched. Music is where I process complex ideas — my third creative space, outside the screen.
DISCIPLINE

NABBA-certified. Gym discipline translates directly to design: consistency, progression, evidence.
CRAFT
Artisan Jewelry
Designing physical pieces by hand gives me a sense of materials, proportion and detail that no screen ever can.
UX Research
Qualitative interviews, Pain Point Matrix, ICE framework, Maze testing. SEQ 5.7/7.
UI & Design Systems
Tokens, Figma variables, components, documented handoff. Zero to production.
Product Thinking
Business metrics, SaaS models, growth strategy. I think in product — not just screens.
Figma Expert
Advanced prototyping, variables, auto-layout, interactive components, design tokens.
